PEOPLE TO VALUE

“Henry Ford could get anything out of men because he just talked
and would tell them stories. He’d never say, ‘I want this done!’
He’d say, ‘I wonder if we can do it.’” – George Brown

It sounds like Henry Ford was a great encourager and leader. A true leader is someone who is a few steps ahead of you, is on the move and inspires your loyalty by the way he or she speaks to you. They let you know they are with you, they don’t send you off on a wild goose chase, and they want you to do well, so they remain with you till you achieve all that their plans were for you to achieve!

Story telling is something I love to do and love to hear, especially if the one telling the story does it with passion. If they can take you with them step by step, keeping your interest until the story reaches its conclusion and that as it ends some wisdom has been imparted to you, which will help you in your life from that moment on.

Do you know anyone who is like Henry Ford, a great story teller and someone who inspires you to follow them, someone who is on your side, that you can depend on? To have someone like that in your life is a real blessing, to have more than one would be wonderful! Amongst others a Life Coach who is worth their salt, should be aiming to be such a character in the life of their clients.

A few steps ahead of you and yet an inspirer who is truly willing you on to success even on the days when you feel like giving up on your dreams. A Life Coach is someone who holds the flag on the top of the hill, till you arrive their, tired and yet exuberant in the achievement of your pre designed goals.

Love and light to you from Andrew

Opportunity In Every Difficulty?

ARE YOU A PESSIMIST OR AN OPTIMIST?

“The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty!” – Winston Churchill

Eight days ago it was all over the news, it was the 50th Anniversary of the funeral of Sir Winston Churchill. It is the first time I have been able to remember watching a story that was half a century ago whilst it was happening. I must have been seven at the time and yet I remember the sombre mood of my parents, grandparents and their peers as they bid the former Prime Minister a fond adieu.

We all love to read inspiring words and love to feel the impact they have on our souls, however momentarily. This quote though speaks of a world changed by it’s author. There were many dark days when it seemed that the only light shining in the tunnel of World War II darkness, were the words of the super optimist Winston Churchill.

Winston put a back bone into the resolve of the British people as they faced the challenge of facing down the Nazi war machine. A philosophy that ignored the common civilities of humanity as it marched into other countries with its ideology of world supremacy! It was one man’s determination to speak loud and clear of the intention to “never, never surrender” that saved the day.

Sir Winston made us believe in ourselves and convinced the civilised world, that despite all the the facts and limitations stacked against us, that evil never triumphs over good!  What defeat are you facing in your life that could do with a great dose of positivity?  Are you a pessimist? Are you already beaten? Or are you ready to rise up against the tyrannies that face you in your life and see opportunity lying there awaiting your discovery?

Do You Mind Or Do You Matter?

DrSeussQuote5

MIND OVER MATTER – IF YOU DON’T MIND, IT WON’T MATTER!

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind!” – Doctor Seuss

I love Doctor Seuss, because he says things in such a profound and funny way, I can’t help but smiling! Some of the funniest men alive have great intellects! From the past I think of Mark Twain who said, among other things: “All generalisations are false, including this one!” and “To succeed in life, you need two things: ignorance and confidence!” Albert Einstein himself said “Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves!”

Today’s quote challenges us to be the person we want to be, to be able to do that you must first define yourself in a way that makes you feel good about yourself. We all need self-respect and yet if you can catch yourself when you use the words “I am” and make a note of what words pass your lips next you’ll soon see whether you need to be encouraged or challenged about the way you see yourself. “I’m a failure!” is a bad confession and even: “I’m just a Mum!” just won’t do.

Let’s say though for the sake of argument that you have a good self-image and you use extremely positive words to follow the many times each day you say “I am … !“ Nevertheless it’s one thing using them within your own thinking, and another thing entirely to say them out loud. As a young person my parents, especially my Mum used to say to me: “Don’t be a big head Andrew, people don’t like big-heads!” So here is an “I am” statement of mine, I learned to use: “I am humble!”

In some ways my Mother got it right, I am as a result of what she said no longer an arrogant man, and yet Dr Seuss has a different angle to speak to us on this very subject. The trouble with what my Mum was saying to me, god bless her, was that we should take account of what other people thought of us, and that led me to become a people pleaser; as well as being a humble, non-arrogant man. On the other hand Dr Seuss tells us why it doesn’t matter what other people think of us!

Life Is Like A Game Of Strategy!

DO YOU PLAY CHESS?

“Success is 20% skills and 80% strategy. You might know how to read, but more importantly, what’s your plan to read?” – Jim Rohn

Strategy is something most people just don’t think of! So I ask you, have you ever played chess? I used to play as a young child; it was shown to me as the next step up from draughts (or checkers as some people call it). I thought I was quite good at it until I entered a chess competition at school and was beaten in what’s known as “fools-mate” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fool’s_mate As they say there’s one thing worse than not knowing and that is thinking that you know when you really don’t!

Like chess, when you are planning a strategy for your life, you need to think what are the possibilities of what will happen next if you do this or that? It’s not enough to know how to move the pieces around the chess board (I’d mastered that part of the game quite well); you also need to know what moves your opponent is likely to take after you move. Life isn’t as easy and straight-forward as we often imagine or would like it to be.

The masters of the game of chess can not only think four or five moves ahead and that depending on the various possible moves of their opponent, but can also remember other games they have played in and the games of other famous chess players; that’s why they are called “Masters!” In the game of life, strategy counts and the way to learn is personally and on the job! Research is good, but life experience is better, because we remember it so much more easily, when it happened to us!

Being able to read is one thing, but reading books is something quite different! It’s worth pointing out, that doing research into whatever it is that you personally want to master will dictate which books you must read. My study of Personal Development and Self-Help books, although I didn’t realise it at the time, was preparing me to be able to coach others about the best strategies to use when pursuing their goals and to be able to write these “Daily Insights” of mine.

WINNER’S NEVER QUIT!

bc62637a166dc8c5355046ffeecf184b... AND QUITTERS NEVER WIN!

“No man is ever whipped until he quits – in his own mind.” – Napoleon Hill

Seven and a half years ago I left my well paid day job with a desire to become a Life Coach and to help people change their lives for the better. I wanted to help my clients to understand what I had been studying for fifteen years or so, that is the subject of Personal Development. I coached people from many walks of life then it was time to create my own website.

I was told I needed to have an auto-responder and get people to sign up to it by creating my own tips book to offer as a thank you for joining my mailing list. I started to write my “Daily Insights” to have some new content to place on my website each day to help the search engines to rank my website, to make it more easily found.

I joined Facebook with a desire to reach the masses with my message of hope, joy and inner peace and gathered 5,000 friends and 1,200 followers to my original profile before I lost my password. By the time I found the piece of paper with the missing passwords on (yes I’d changed my Hotmail password the same day so I couldn’t do a password recovery) I had started to build a new profile.

So that’s where I am today with a fan page www.facebook.com/aps57 with 6,200+ followers and the “Be Inspired!” family which has now grown to over 8,400 today (20th January 2014). I have had reasons for giving up on my dream of reaching the world with my brand of inspiration, challenge and encouragement, but how can you quit, when quitters never win and winners never quit?

YOURS IS THE ONLY OPINION THAT COUNTS!

underdog business successASPIRING TO SUCCESS

“Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.” – Robert Collier

Where do you expend energy every day, maybe the main thrust of your life is spent at work, being paid to do some task for an employer, maybe you spend your time with your own young children and being a homemaker. There within the sum of all your small efforts lies your success or failure, in the end analysis the only opinion that really counts though is your own.

Do you feel like a success? Well if you don’t what are you going to do to enable yourself to redefine who you are and how successful the sum of all your small efforts become? I suppose one of the things you can do is “play to your strengths” for we all have things that we are particularly good at; and then delegate the other areas of weakness to those who consider them their strengths.

To get where you want to go in life, you need to keep doing the things that keep getting you closer to your goals! If the definition of insanity is doing the same things and expecting different results; then the definition of sanity must be, to find the “same things” that give you the results you want and keep doing them!

What are your successes? Did they come about by making small efforts day in and day out? I think they did! Robert Collier not only defines how the successes we have had have come about, but also how our future successes will become our experience. So, the question is: What success do you aspire to and what are you going to do today, right now this moment, to make sure it comes about?

Thinking Big

Magic-of-thinking-big

IT’S TIME TO THINK BIG!

“As long as you are going to be thinking anyway, think big.” – Donald Trump

What a challenge! We all think every moment of every day, something like 60,000 thoughts a day, but sadly most of them repetitive. Our minds are like sponges, if only we used them to soak up new information each day, we and all society would benefit. We need to read more, step outside our comfort zone and think outside the box.

We all know what we know, but there is and always will be much more to learn. As a coach I believe that the most important subject we need to learn about is ourselves. When we understand, even a little bit more about ourselves, why we do the things we do, we will be able to get so much more out of life! We are imprisoned by our own programing, done by those who also had little understanding, even if they meant well.

We are here to grow, and to make progress in our own generation, for our families and for all human kind! The kaleidoscope turns, the pattern changes, and yet what emerges can be more perfect and beautiful than it was before, if we stop to think about how we want the pattern to change, rather than just letting it happen.

Our thinking needs to be bigger; instead of merely thinking about how to get through the day we should think of how to plan our lives and how we can improve things for those who follow us! Maybe today started out no differently than any other day, but here’s the opportunity to change that and think big! Today is the first day of the rest of your life, so take the opportunity to think big!

Aspiring To Success

ARE YOU GOING TO SUCCEED?

“Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.” – Robert Collier

Do You Know Why You Fail?

NEVER QUIT!

“Never walk away from failure. On the contrary, study it carefully and imaginatively for its hidden assets.” – Michael Korda

Do you allow your failures to sadden you? Do you ever walk away from a situation that didn’t work out the way you planned it and despair? Do you say to yourself, “I’ll never attempt that again?” Are you someone who is “once bitten twice shy?”

The reason we fail on the perfect path of life that we are traveling on, is so that we can become wise; so that we can grow and be helpful to others when they face similar situations. In this way the human-race progresses from one generation to another.

I think it was Oscar Wilde who said “If at first you don’t succeed try, try again. But when you’ve tried and tried again give up, you don’t need to become silly about it!” So, learn your lessons, your life lessons, but don’t become obsessed with always winning in the game of life.

Maybe in the past you’ve walked away from failure? Your failures have defined you as a quitter and we all know “Winners never quit, and quitters never win!” So now it’s time to welcome life’s challenges and for you to become someone who wants life to reveal to them, the hidden assets that studying failure will give to you?
