Be Yourself!

“Fortunate is the person who has developed the self-control to
steer a straight course towards his objective in life, without
being swayed from his purpose by either commendation or
condemnation.” – Napoleon Hill

I was watching Cheryl Cole (ex Girls Aloud) being interviewed recently about her best advice as a mentor to the contestants she was looking after for the X Factor show. It was clear from later on in the interview it is something she not only preaches but practices too! Her advice to the contestants was: “Don’t read what the press say about you!”

In some respects there is no such thing as bad press, in that if you are being written about at all it keeps you in the public eye. But to read what they say may sway your conviction to steer a straight course towards your objective in life, either by becoming  complacent because what is being said about you is good or making you lose your way if what they are saying about you is upsetting.

This is good advice to us all, to not allow ourselves to be concerned what others might say (good or bad) about us and our desire to achieve our goals. If our goals are not immoral, illegal or against our own good conscience, we should pursue them with all our might, regardless of what others say!
