BEING RIGHT OR BEING KIND
“Be selective in your battles, sometimes peace is better than being right!” – Ritu Ghatourey
Some people are so laid back they almost fall off their chairs, they take what life offers them with good grace. Me, well in the past at least, I’ve been like a bull in a china shop!
I knew my solution was the best one, it was fair, in everyone’s best interest and yet I was unable to get others to accept what I was saying. Maybe, at least on some occasions, I won the argument but lost a friend.
It’s an ego thing wanting your own way and having to be right. I have found that although I cannot be silenced, without sharing my point of view, now I am much more likely to accept someone else’s view and let them win.
If you have a choice to be right or be kind; be kind. Swallow your pride find peace and keep your friendship. Don’t let others win all the time, but end belligerence now!
I LIKE ME!
“Accept and own who you are!”
I don’t know about you, but I like me! What I’m asking you here, is do you like you, like I like me?
Seasons change, friends walk away, family members die, the one person you are totally stuck with all your life is you!
Maybe you have self esteem issues? Maybe you just don’t like who you are? But I’m sure whoever you are you have gifts and talents.
Your uniqueness (at least in my book) is why you are here! You are maginificent already, but life is for growing and understanding more anyway.
So say it with me now, “I LIKE ME!”
WHAT DO YOU REALLY LOVE TO DO?
“Believe that you can and you can!”
Is it really that simple? I think it probably is! You see, everything that happens in your life and mine is as a direct result of what we believe!
If you don’t believe you will get the job you want you won’t apply for it. If you don’t believe you’ll get the job and you still apply for it and get an interview, your negativity will probably affect how you come across in the interview and prevent your success.
Faint heart never won fair lady! If you don’t believe the woman (or man) of your dreams will be interested in having you in their life, you are not going to share your future with them!
Belief is equal to human existence! If you don’t believe you can defeat the life threatening illness, you are going to be leaving us soon.
Belief is everything! Belief in yourself and your horizons grow, your life is enhanced in every way. Believe that you can and you can and you will!
THE STRANGE PULL OF WHAT YOU REALLY LOVE
“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray!”
Are you aware of what you are here to do? Some believe that they don’t have a purpose other than being born, living and dying, and yet each one of us has passion.
Yesterday I was talking about intuition. Well, one of the ways to recognise intuition is by becoming aware of what you really love.
Our passions change in life, there are core values we hold dear and yet we suddenly get caught up in the thrill of the moment and what Rumi calls “the strange pull” silently draws us.
Life is what you make it, but if you don’t follow your passions, if you don’t fulfil the strange pull of what you really love, you will end up going in a direction other than your soul’s true course.
WHEN LOGIC FAILS YOU
“That thing we call intuition? It’s your soul. You can trust it!”
Some people call it their “gut reaction”, their soul or even their higher self, here it’s named as the intuition. The sad thing is we don’t listen to it enough.
Life can be a struggle, because we are unprepared for what is next on the agenda for us, but the intuition has a forward glimpse and if we are wise we listen.
Here in the Western World more weight is given to logic and the way our minds can rationalize and work things out and this method of navigating the circumstances of our lives shoul not be ignored.
However, what do you do when you have no prior experience or knowledge of what you face? I’m sure there have been times when you followed your intuition and it was helpful, so why not make more use of it in future? 😉
YOU’RE REALLY SOMETHING QUITE WONDERFUL!
“Promise me you’ll always remember you’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think!”
Have you ever had one of those days where everything you did seemed to go wrong? You should have stood up for yourself and you didn’t; you gave up too easily and your brain didn’t seem to get in gear all day?
It’s at times like these I often think of those wonderful words of Christopher Robin in AA Milne’s beautiful parting story between him and Winnie the Pooh as he is about to go to college.
Pooh Bear isn’t and never claimed to be Yogi Bear. He’s not “smarter than the average bear” he’s the one that Tiggr observed as “the one whose head is stuffed with fluff!”
Over many adventures Pooh Bear learned many things from his experiences and Christopher Robin was always there to encourage him into being a better bear! So came the words of this wonderful advice that I believe we should all take to heart!
