Potential

Total insecurity you don’t know where you’re going
No sense of direction your life just isn’t flowing
Where you are is certainly not where you want to be
Which means boredom and depression for all eternity

Can you see beyond your present situation
And think of something that will give you motivation
Maybe it’s a desire you felt many years ago
That you’d hidden from your mind
Where you can’t see its glow

Dust away the cobwebs, get rid of all that junk
That you let take over when your purpose sunk
Out of your imagination into a dark cold place
That turns into automatons
Members of the human race

Your potential is quite staggering if you could only see
With purpose led by passion
There’s nothing you can’t be
But until you take back all that you’ve laid down
There’ll be no smiles upon your face you will only frown

So meditate quite deeply
Leave your present world behind
Allow yourself to dream, stop being so unkind
To the person that you are
Whose plans went down in flames
Claim back the life you wanted, before you go insane

The Way You See The World Maybe Challenged …

… But Don’t Be Afraid To Have Your Eccentricities

“Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now
accepted was once eccentric.” – Bertrand Russell

I’m sure you’ve heard of Galileo, he is the scientist whose  improvement to the design of the telescope led to the discovery of the four largest moons of Jupiter. His observation of these moons and the phases of the planet Venus helped him to find scientific evidence for the Copernican theory that the earth travelled around the sun.

http://ircamera.as.arizona.edu/NatSci102/NatSci102/lectures/galileo.htm

The heliocentric view was considered heresy by the church that held to a geocentric view, I.E. that the Earth was the centre of the universe. Galileo’s heliocentric views were condemned by the Catholic Church as “false and contrary to Scripture”, and he was warned to abandon his support for it—which he promised to do.

However with the election of his friend Cardinal Barberini as Pope Urban VIII in 1623, Galileo’s evidence was allowed to be published and the world view that the sun travelled around the Earth began to lose sway. Now it is accepted by all that Galileo, Copernicus and Aristotle were not eccentrics or heretics but scientifically accurate.

Our view of the world despite its eccentricity may one day be accepted as correct by others, therefore our eccentricities are not to be feared but allowed to be considered as a possible better way of seeing the world.

Stand Up For The Things You Believe In!

Conquering Fear

“To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom.” – Bertrand Russell

Does fear have the upper hand with you, can fear immobilize you? You can take fear at face value or you can realize it’s just an acronym of False Evidence Appearing Real. If you have ever been metaphorically “Caught in the Glaze of the Headlights” and just not known which way to turn, you will know with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight that the reason it happened was due to fear.

It is in our own interest that we learn how to conquer our fears, one day it could end up being a matter of life or death for us. Timidity and shyness may be endearing in some peoples eyes, but to have a steely spirit, to be someone who is willing to “Face the fear and do it anyway!” as Susan Jeffer’s book called it, will live a more fulfilled life.

My favorite quote from the film Braveheart is when the character tells his men the reason to fight rather than run was that if
they did one day they would still die in their beds maybe as old men, but what kind of life is the life of a coward or a frightened man? Braveheart then says “All men die, but not all men truly live!”

When we believe in something strongly enough, and if it isn’t true of anything else it ought to be true of the way we view our own lives then we should be willing to stand up for it! If you won’t stand for something as important as that, then you will probably fall for anything. Yes conquering fear is a wise move indeed!

Don’t Quit Too Soon!

Are You Three Feet From Gold?

“No man is ever whipped until he quits – in his own mind!” – Napoleon Hill

In the early days of my awareness of Personal Development and Self-Help I was passed a number of cassette tapes, which I still have today. Among them were titles by Brian Tracy, Earl Nightingale, Dennis Waitley and a recording of Napoleon Hill’s classic 1937 book “Think and Grow Rich!” I listened many times to these tapes and although Earl Nightingale’s “Strangest Secret Ever Told” sticks in my mind, it was Napoleon Hill’s “Three Feet From Gold” story that challenged me the most.

If you’d like to read the story please follow the link at the end of today’s “Daily Insight.” RU Darby’s Uncle found gold in the gold rush then invested heavily in equipment and despite digging the gold seam soon disappeared and he returned to Williamsburg, Maryland to pay back the debts he amassed for his venture. The lack of knowledge about fault lines in an earthquake zone meant he had left a small fortune of gold in the ground three feet away from where they had been digging.

They later learned that the scrap merchant who had bought their no longer needed land and mining equipment had employed the services of a geologist who had explained that the seam of gold might still be found. RU Darby decided from that day on that he would never quit when people told him no as he asked them to buy life insurance from him. He became one of a small group of men who sold a million dollars of life insurance cover annually in the middle of the 1930’s great depression.

Do you feel “whipped” right now, today? Do you feel like all the plans you have made to achieve in your life have been thwarted? Is all the evidence pointing to the fact that you are a failure and that it’s time to quit? I know I have had many days when I have felt that I must take the advice of friends and family and “get a proper job”; but you see I can’t walk away from my dreams, I will not quit! I know I am near to the gold seam and I will find it and mine it until the end of my days!

Do Something!

IF THE CAP FIT’S WEAR IT!

“Forget yourself and start to work.” – Gordon B. Hinckley

Sometimes you just can’t see the wood for the trees! It may well be that the only person who is preventing you from getting where you want to go is you! If you forever seem to be the stumbling block that prevents you from getting on with your life, then today’s Daily Insight is for you. If the cap fits, wear it!

The simple answer to your problem is this … do something!  You and I must be willing to stop contemplating our navels, considering what may or may not go wrong and simply start the journey of a thousand miles by taking that first step! Action will take you further than sitting back worrying about the future ever will.

Selflessness is how to enter the realm of greatness! “You don’t have to be great to start, but you must start to become great!” Most of the time we are too self-conscious for our own good, and our egos get in the way of us accomplishing the things we would dearly love to accomplish.

If you haven’t done so already, you must take this lesson to heart today. If you do, your life will step up a gear and your sense of fulfilment will rise in a way that you probably haven’t experienced before.

What words do you say to yourself
In the silent world within
Do you speak of contentment and joy
Or do you not know where to begin

You may not think it’s important
What daily goes on in your mind
But to show this world some love
You need to yourself to be kind

Positive / Negative thinking
Are not what they may seem to be
Psychobabble and ra ra hope
Is not at all what I see

I believe that whether you order
You thoughts in a particular way
That nevertheless what goes on in your mind
Will affect all you do and say

Observe yourself when you think
You’ll discover the reality you make
A life full of fun and contentment
Is your choice and no-one else’s mistake

Be Inspired!

“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see!” – Henry David Thoreau

It had been a while but in early September last year I recorded a new video encouraging people to make a decision to no longer settle for less than an inspired life! I don’t know if you’ve already seen it yet, but I am making it available here on my online blog. Here’s my Video: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=288421741299187&set=o.135612909944672&type=3&theater

Life is supposed to be an adventure, where you are the hero in your own story! You are not here to be cannon fodder, a wage slave or some other automaton of society. I strongly believe that we all have an individual role to play and that we are here to add something to the mix of human life.

What is the part that you are supposed to play? Well before I go any further I must tell you that there is only one person who can decide what your role is; and that my dear friend is you! We all showed up here with our own internal guidance system and many of us have either not used it all our adult lives, or switched it off after a major plan we had didn’t work out!

Anything for a quiet life is not a strategy to employ to get you anywhere! There is no “quiet life” if you acquiesce, there will always be someone who is willing to find you something to do that will benefit them and you will end up with a no hope future, that those who abdicate their own lives and responsibilities deserve.

These are harsh words and yet I am speaking them not just for your own good, but because I believe that if the light you were sent here to shine is put out, then the whole planet becomes a darker place. Lights out is coming soon enough, when we depart this human life our lights will go out, but until then I want you and me to shine as brightly as we can!

Living an inspired and awakened life is for me the only life worth living! I know there are many who prefer to be miserable or believe that there is no end to their suffering and the suffering of others in this life; that there is nothing anyone can do to change things from the way they are! I am just not one of them! I respect people’s right to live their lives the way they want to, but I am sure that if people realised there were options open to them they wouldn’t stay where they are!

I am currently looking to work with three people in my role as a Life Coach, to help build their self-esteem on the way to them achieving goals that maybe they have had for years but never realised. My studies into the subject of Personal Development over the years have inspired me to believe that anyone can fulfil their dreams and desires, if they will commit themselves to a regime constant and never ending improvement.

Why not take me up on my offer of a 30 minute Discovery Session with me as your coach to see if coaching can help you turn your life around and then whether I am the right coach for you. I describe myself as an Inspirational Coach, someone who holds the flag at the top of the hill for you, till you get there and are able to hold it for yourself.

Think of it, by Christmas this year you could have achieved your lifetime ambitions, as I have a thirteen week program already mapped out which I can tailor to your requirements. SELF WORTH

balefront0_2658899b

Your Worth As A Human Being Is As Great As Any Other!

“Heroes may not be braver than anyone else. They’re just braver five minutes longer!” – Ronald Reagan

At the beginning of the last football season the sporting press mad much of the transfer of the soccer player Gareth Bale from the London team Spurs (Tottenham Hotspur) to the Spanish team Real Madrid for a record fee in soccer of £86 million. http://bit.ly/1fsJihM What caught my eye was the amount he was to be paid for his skills to be used in the Real Madrid team, £300,000 a week!

This made me ask the question “How come this man was considered to be worth being paid more than 10 times more in a week than the average person earns in a year?” Average income in the UK in 2013 was around £26,000 a year and after benefits are added to the lowest 5% of incomes those who are receiving them have an income of around £13,000 per annum. http://bit.ly/7F2qT3

So Gareth is now being paid an amount that is equal to the income of 1,200 of the poorest people in the UK, some of whom will be working a 40 hour week. You may see this as jealousy on my part, or as a rage against the financial rewards system used in our capitalist and consumerist society, but it’s not! I look on in awe at Gareth’s soccer skills, but what does this transaction do to the rest of us?

Is someone’s skills really worth between 500 and 1,200 times what you or I receive. Yes of course there are others who earn at high levels, but by far the majority of us exchange the best and most productive hours of our waking week being paid at the levels I am suggesting here. My rage isn’t against the financial rewards system, but I do feel a massive sadness that as a result of considering this information people may come to the wrong conclusions about themselves and their lives.

Let me tell you here and now, that despite the fact that your skills and income may never reach the dizzy heights of Gareth Bale, your worth as a human being is as great as any other person alive! Until you are willing to accept this as a fact, the chances of your income increasing are negligible. You need to have self-esteem, you need to see yourself and the skills you have as worthwhile and necessary as everyone else.

I am currently looking to work with three people in my role as a Life Coach, to help build their self-esteem on the way to them achieving goals that maybe they have had for years but never realised. My studies into the subject on Personal Development over the years have inspired me to believe that anyone can fulfil their dreams and desires if they will commit themselves to a regime constant and never ending improvement.

Rediscovering Your Passion

542216_287770551364306_1322830750_n

What Animates You?

“Passion is the genesis of genius!” – Anthony Robbins

Passion is something I most certainly have! I believe that we are all at our best when we let the love and light that is within us to shine through!

There are darker sides to our passion: hate, revenge, bullying to name but three, but that is not the kind of passion I am talking about.

What makes you, you? What animates you and makes you feel alive? Surely it is this passion that we all have, that should not be quenched by fear or lack of belief in ourselves.

Let today be a new beginning ! We need to take this opportunity to rediscover and use our passion for our lives, our loved ones and our world, to make it worthwhile for us to be here.

Growing Up

 Eavesdropping On My Parents

“Self-disciplined begins with the mastery of your thoughts. If you don’t control what you think, you can’t control what you do!” – Napoleon Hill

I remember late one evening listening from the attic steps where I had my bedroom to the conversation my Dad was having with my Mum which went along these lines.

My Mum said: “Andrew is getting in with the wrong sort of people, I am concerned for him!” My Dad replied “I am not worried about him, we have brought him up well and given him a good example to follow. Andrew is a good lad and I don’t think he will stray from the path we have shown him!”

I listened and looked into my own soul, I saw the concerns for which my Mum had spoken of taking root in my life and I felt the challenge of my Dad’s faith in me as it hit me. His words made me want to be better and in a strange way I think that hearing this conversation between my parents changed the outcome of my life.

Thank you Mum and Dad for everything you both did for me, but thank you especially to my Dad for always believing the best in me would eventually show up! I hope as he looks on from his view-point in heaven that I am making him and my Mum proud of all their love and efforts on my behalf. <3 <3 <3
